Vision + Rework

**This picture is of my revised Woodshop collection. I revisited last week…I originally designed over a dozen patterns a year ago, and time helped me see what was working and what wasn’t. I got rid of most of the prints, refined ones that I liked, and added a couple to round it all out. I’m going to try it in another colorway and then send it off to Spoonflower, where the masses can buy it at will.

Last week Rus and I decided to go for a hike. I have a goal to hike 40 trails in the Sandia mountains before my 40th birthday in October of this year, and Rus is a willing accomplice.

He asked where I wanted to hike, and I suggested we just go up the canyon from our house.

He agreed, we packed up, got our youngest daughter on the bus and started our hike.

We headed up into the canyon but quickly veered onto a path that took us up the ridgeline next to the canyon. And then we kept hiking up. And up. Rus commented often on how brutal the trail was, and when he thought it would eventually level out.

Eventually, I commented on how I thought we’d be hiking in the canyon and not up this brutal ridgeline.

He said when we were discussing plans for the hike, he heard “canyon” and thought “ridgeline”.

Awesome, right? How communication “works,” lol!

It was a really tough hike but we when found ourselves on the Whitewash trail, it actually did level out like Rus thought, and we were basically characters in a disney movie, strolling happily through ponderosa pines with wind whipping my hair, blue skies and sunshine and singing deer.

Okay, there were no singing deer **sigh** how cool would that be!

Anyway, back to the brutal ascent before the magical ponderosa pine forest at the top…

I could not stop thinking about my business, the monthly newsletter I want to send out, and the email freebie that I want to give away to people to sign up for my newsletter. IDEAS! Well, one main idea and numerous thoughts on how to accomplish said idea.

Rus heard them all. He was gasping for air because it was very, very steep, so I basically had a captive audience to share my thoughts between my own gasping breaths.

Why is it that talking about ideas can make them feel so much more real? Even though you haven’t actually done anything yet?

I really appreciate the people in my life who are trusted sounding boards – those who listen to my thoughts, share feedback, and help me really flesh out ideas. I’m grateful, also that ideas are just ideas – that the imagination can eat its little heart out creating something, and if it doesn’t work out or it really is a terrible idea, **poof!** it’s gone and no harm done!

What idea do you love talking about?

(For Rus and I, it’s retirement plans! Church mission! Become truckers! Sell everything and travel the world in an RV! Live on an island in the middle of nowhere!)
